I've barely used Dell tech support, but I've been very happy with the
quality of the Dell Latitude line. I have a D430 which I usually carry
with me and a larger D620 as well. My current employer and previous
both standardized on the Dell Latitude lines for a number of somewhat
irrelevant business type reasons. Both laptops run Linux, I really
only carry the 430, where hibernate works 95% of the time. Everything
has worked out of the box.

Support gets better as you give them tons of more money, there are
different levels. I could comment on how I once I got a replacement
part delivered by magic carpet about 4 hours after I opened a support
case, but I have to assume we pay quite a bit for that level of
service on that product.
