Touchy topic! Don't get the Python users angry!
Python is just as "hip" and "trendy" as Ruby, in the bigger picture. As
a programmer at an institution more conservative than your own if Python
is a hip & trendy language to them, and I suspect the answer will
probably be yes.
Remove Ruby and more than half of my customers go offline. Remove Ruby,
and thousands of servers become unmanageable. That matters to me. It's
not that Python isn't important. Nobody seems to be claiming that. It's
that Ruby is also important.
